Geist Montessori Academy (GMA) was created as a charter school under the supervision of Ball State University in 2006. It developed from an established private Montessori school in an attempt to offer a free Montessori education to the general public.
GMA began with just two classrooms, one lower elementary and one upper elementary. It has now expanded to include two kindergarten classrooms, four lower elementary classes, two upper elementary classes, and one middle school class. GMA’s vision is to expand further still, adding more classrooms at each educational level.
GMA is the only Montessori school in Indiana to receive the prestigious 4-star designation from the Indiana department of education.
